Mercy Corps

Strengthening Knowledge and Skills of Rights-Based Dispute Resolution for Deputy Township Administrators and Ward and Village Tract Administrators

Mercy Corps aims to empower local level administrative officials involved in dispute resolution by strengthening their dispute resolution skills and delivery of justice services for the people in community. To achieve this, Mercy Corps will strengthen the dispute resolution skills of 200 Ward and Village Tract Administrators(W/VTAS) from five townships and all the 1200 Deputy Staff Officers (of General Administration Department) from across Myanmar. The programme will also provide follow-up capacity development support to the selected 200 W/VTAs through coaching and mentoring activities, exchange activities for peer-learning, and further training on certain key national laws related to key justice issues in respective communities. The programme will also try to pilot a dispute resolution documentation system, which will allow better analysis of community dispute resolution practices including number of disputes, types of disputes, results of the disputes, the parties involved, and the process of dispute resolution.
