Women’s Experience of the Law in Myanmar: A documentation of select cases

Several MyJustice partners undertook case documentations of women’s experience of navigating justice systems in Myanmar, for a range of different issues. Programme staff from Action Aid Myanmar (AAM), Thammadi Foundation, Mon Women and Children Upgrade Conduct (MWCUC), Genuine People’s Servants (GPS) and Yangon Justice Centre (YJC), documented select women’s experiences for a range of different justice issues, through an applied capacity development approach. The resulting documentations, rich in detail, are based on first person accounts of affected women and reveal the complexity of women’s experience with both formal and informal systems as well as the socio-cultural norms that mediate the experience. Myanmar versions of these documentations are downloadable from the links below. An English synthesis is forthcoming.
